Today’s prompt: sugar, certificate, golf

Another episode with America’s Senior (blog) Sweethearts…♥

Husband took up golf last year, but

Not in a serious way…he’s no addict.

So I was surprised when he came in

Holding a piece of paper with a gold

Seal on it… “What’s this?” I ask.

“A certificate,” he says.

I shrug, make a smiley-frown, thinking

There was probably a competition I’ve

Forgotten about… “No trophy, Sugar?”

“Read it,” he says.

It says he’s certified to be a coach…how

Did that happen, I’m wondering, not

Showing the enthusiasm he was expecting.

“You’re qualified to be a coach?  That

 Happened quick…”

“Yep, I took to golf like a duck to water.”

He’s a little too proud for my liking.

“Well, what does this mean, exactly…

What does it entail?  Will you be

Gone every weekend, now?”

“No, not every one…takes time to get

Referrals, people who want a coach.”

I’m getting a sick-stomach feeling.

“Um…do I need to worry about you

Spending inordinate amounts of time

With young women in short-shorts?”

“Good grief, Love.”  His expression

Doesn’t reassure me somehow.

“Well…I was young once, remember

And I fell for you because you were an

Older man…mature, charming, gorgeous, etc.

So I think you should be cautious about the

Students, clients, you agree to coach.”

His back is to me as he looks out the window

And says, “it’s the older, rich widows and

Divorcees who seem to hunt the coaches.”

“Oh…great.  I’d have to be wealthy, aside

From our joint assets, to compete?”

“Rita, I’m flattered that you think I’m

Still a chick-magnet, but you also know

I’m a one-woman guy… Maybe you’d like

To be my first student?” he asks, his arms

Around my waist as he nuzzles my neck.

I have zero interest in golf…there are other

Sports he could coach me in, though…

Hope Resurrected (NaPoWriMo)

For Holy Saturday…

I will touch His hem, be healed…

Kneel at His cross, where Love did bleed.

I will pour from heart my tears and praise

Be lifted up…thus, hands to Him I raise.

For grace and mercy reign with Risen King

Hope resurrected, blessed Lord, I sing.

Dressed in radiance, my Savior lives…

Shed Blood covers sins, yes, Christ forgives.

ABC’s of Faith-Walk

http://www.napowrimo.net/day-nineteen-4/

Optional Prompt:  “write an abecedarian poem – a poem in which the word choice follows the words/order of the alphabet.”

Another eleventh hour entry, color me Amazed!

Able, Blessed to be Called by Christ

Divine invitation, heart’s Desire

Everything isn’t Easy about this Faith-walk

But it’s Greater than anything life without

It has offered…and Heaven’s at my

Rainbow’s end.  I’m sealed IN Christ Jesus

With Kiss of Holy Spirit…it’s LOVE‘S Marvelous

Magnificent journey, Nothing else will measure

Up NowOnly Jesus satisfies, gives Peace

In circumstances where no peace exists (mind

Filled with Questions Raging, Soul in Torment).

Undeserving of grace, I Understand He Views

Me through His Blood, Valuable—which is

Wealth the World can’t afford (says I’m not

Worthy)—but God’s thoughts, Ways are far

Above what people can conceive.

God’s communion with me is more than

Xenial; I’m not mere friend or guest, but

Beloved daughter…

He’s polished all my Yesterdays with

His goodness…so, I’ve got my Zeal on

Must talk-talk-talk about Him🙂

Darkest of Days

O darkest of days…

Followers trembled with fear

Grief, uncertainty

Jesus told them what must come

Yet it was too horrible

They waited, wondered

Comforted one another

Hearts’ long darkest day

Honeymoon Cottage

We married, intent on living in Hawaii

But paradise would wait…husband’s

100% Irish, so after touring his parents’

Homeland, we found a honeymoon

Cottage in England…pink, like happy

Blushing bride, surrounded by privacy

Lush green trees, the loveliest of weeks.

Returning home, we carried ‘souvenirs’…

Memories of ‘paradise’, English style, tea

Time with biscuits; new fondness for

English romances…books, and on the ‘telly’.

Questions Allowed (A to Z Challenge, Letter Q)

My unbreakable faith

Allows questions

Faith-walk hasn’t been

Without days of doubt

Journey of the soul, a

Quest to know God I

Believe in fully, more

He responds, we have

Dialog, communication

It’s permissible to ask

“Why?” and “When?”

Whatever’s on our hearts…

We want answers when

Things go wrong, when

We’re hurting…during dry

Spells and trials…when we

Want what we want right

NOW, and we don’t care

About how… Then, and

Always, God is bigger than

Our minds can conceive:

“My thoughts are not your

Thoughts, My ways are

Not your ways”*…but it’s

Okay to believe and still ask

To trust, yet wonder a bit…

Faith is not a magic wand

Faith is imperfect, like us

To question is not a sin…

Pray with patience, wait for

God’s answer to come…

Unfinished answers aren’t

Necessarily “No”.

Even Jesus, on the cross

Asked, “My God, why have

You forsaken me?”**

Bible Verses: biblehub.com

*“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9, Berean Study Bible

**“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Matt 27:46, KJB
