Elephant At the Salon

Today’s prompt: salon, mystery, elephant

Feeling like an elephant

And a balding one at that

I plodded into the salon

Determined not to cry as

I sought my hair stylist’s

Help regarding the alopecia

Which was latest addition to

My mid-60’s aggravations.

She sat me in a chair, with a

Healthy fruit drink, patted

My shoulder soothingly…

I’d brought along a Victorian

Romance-mystery to read

While waiting, a bad idea:

All those ladies-in-waiting

With tresses as long as the

Train of their gown, Rapunzels.

Nancy returned, cheery smile

(Like a nurse), and asked…

“How do you feel about wigs?”
