“Laugh” song lyrics by the Monkees follow poem 🙂

Spare needless tears…

At human foibles, disappointments

When you’d rather dissolve, disappear…

Tomorrow—burdens, clouds will lighten, life will amuse…Laugh!

Lyrics excerpt: “Laugh”, by the Monkees

Ev’ry face that I see is all wrapped up in frowns,
And unfortunately, it kind of gets me down.
‘Cause the music is funny
Yeah, the bass sounds off-beat.
Ain’t that neat.
When you lose all your money,
Or you can’t find your shoes
To cover your feet.
It’s not so hard to see exactly what I’m after.
Sometimes a tear should fall, but I require giggles and chuckles
When you’re keepin’ a secret
And it seems to be known
By the rest of the world…

Goes to Show, You Never Can Tell

Six months from the first day we met

The girl with the cast iron smile

Who’d been the other side of nothing

With invisible roommates

Was suddenly in love…

As though light interrupted

Delia became slender half of

Mr and Mrs Deadtree.

My hollow entreaty…that she

Reconsider wisdom of this…

Met with response as if

To a distant hum.

And now we’re celebrating mutual

Success…I’ve published her NY Times

Best seller, Dark Days: Biography of

A Self-Professed Cynic.

Whoa, Day Like This! (3TC)

Today’s prompt: kangaroo, light bulb, taco

I’d had a terrible headache and

Took two aspirin my friend gave me…

Next thing I knew I was on the floor

‘Neath sway of a dimming light bulb

Hovering over me was a humongous

Smiling kangaroo, eating a taco

And singing, “mama said there’ll

Be days like this, there’ll be days

Like this, mama said”…
