Prompt: write a poem that uses repetition…repeat a word, or phrase…even repeat an image, perhaps slightly changing or enlarging it from stanza to stanza, to alter its meaning.

Yearning for time to open pages

Disappear inside bound papered

Walls, fort of words, escape…book.

Longing for printed lines that renew

Refresh mood, mental getaway.

Yearning burns for story which

Embraces me, a boon companion…

For ink-profiled characters more

Authentic, 3-dimensional, than

Most real people invested in.

Urgency in longing, yearning…

Time lifts broad tapestried wings

Of blinding hue.  Luxury journey

Literary—hands turning dim pages

Shakily—soon will pass from view.

Sapphire Autumn (NaPoWriMo)

http://www.napowrimo.net/day-twenty-five-5/

Write a poem that:  Is specific to a season; Uses imagery that relates to all five senses (sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell); Includes a rhetorical question…

Autumn, sapphires weaved through hair

Nip of dark frost sparks eyes, beware…

Copper shoulders caped in flame-tanged fragrance…

Full sunset season, does the lady wear.

What pales sunned countenance with sorrow

While ‘mid rustled leaves feet, slippered, dance?

Her lips taste salt, singing tear-inked hesitance…

Will true heart’s longing meet her on chill morrow?

Intrigante (NaPoWriMo)

http://www.napowrimo.net/day-twenty-four-5/

Today’s (optional) prompt is to write a poem that, like “Dictionary Illustrations,” is inspired by a reference book. Locate a dictionary, thesaurus, or encyclopedia, open it at random, and consider the two pages in front of you to be your inspirational playground for the day.

This is my absolute favorite NaPoWriMo prompt!!  Last year I purchased a copy of the Webster’s New Universal Unabridged Dictionary, Deluxe 2nd Edition…for a mere $10.  So, responding to the prompt, I closed my eyes and opened it…landed in the middle of the “I’s”…where I spied a fabulous word, “Intrigante”—defined as, ‘noun, “a woman given to or involved in intrigue” (from French, fem. of  intrigant)’.  ENJOY! 🙂 Ennle♥

Every man noticed her…

Most, deep enthralled by her

Possibly even completely

In love with her…who was

That woman, gliding shadow

At twilight…dressed in smart

Midnight-hued satin attire…

‘Neath fedora with net veil

Raven hair swooped in twist

Off elegant neck, graced by

Glist’ning jet pendant, matched

Earbobs that swayed in gas

Lanterns like smoke.

What was her name? something

Foreign, exotic…it tripped on

The tongue when they tried to

Remember, fair swooned as they

Spoke it.  Oh yes, she provoked

Stunned reaction, hot quaking

As perfume trailed sensuous and

Silky, unfurling…yard after yard

Behind.  Her features were sculpted

Fine cheek bones and nose; forehead

Unlined and chin angled just so.

Mutelips tinted soft crimson…ahh

They left old men aching.

What was she doing there, clearly

Alone?  What manner of business?

Dark affair, schemer’s heart?

She was painted in mystery…a

Masterful canvas they stared at

Insatiable, and hungered to own.

But alas, Intrigante was enigma

unsolvable…by dawn she had

Vanished, in amethyst mist.

Napalm’s Swans

http://www.napowrimo.net/day-twenty-three-5/

I’m moved and delighted that, once more, my poem fit the NaPoWriMo prompt: “…for our daily prompt…I’d like to challenge you today to write a poem about an animal.”

Today’s prompt: daffodil, swan, napalm

Do daffodils bloom

Where hell’s horror napalm burned

Children, souls now swans

Dear Vincent (NaPoWriMo)

http://www.napowrimo.net/day-twenty-two-5/

There have been few days of NaPoWriMo that I’ve been able to somewhat satisfy the optional prompt, however today offers fulfillment (hope readers agree) 🙂

Dear Vincent, kindred

Soul to me, heart’s brother far

How I long to meet

Clasp hands that brushed starry night

Filled canvases iris-full

~*~

I would have fed you

From small kitchen’s steaming pots

Breads, delicious baked

Listened as you spoke of God

Your desire to preach denied

~*~

Happy days unshared

They wait, pastel Tomorrows

Soon I’ll join you, Home

My Savior Lives! (A to Z “S”/NaPoWriMo)

From His heart of love

God’s saving grace, plan

For the world’s Salvation

His Son, of lowly birth

Immanuel, “God is with us”

JESUS, Messiah, Savior

Crucified on Calvary’s cross

Died, buried in borrowed tomb

Third Day, was resurrected!

Sealed stone was rolled away

Revealed empty grave, now

King of kings, Lord of lords

HE IS RISEN!

Victorious over Death!

With Him, believers

Share Life Eternal!

MY SAVIOR LIVES!

SELAH!

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” John 3:16-17, Berean Study Bible
