What Shall We Do, Dear?

https://lightmotifs.wordpress.com/2019/03/19/three-things-challenge-pl34/ Today’s prompt: guitar, forest, caviar

Doubt I’d care for caviar

Perhaps pizza, I’ve cash to spare

Forest get-away sounds too far…

Let’s do stay-cation, shall we dare?

You can play “come-hitherguitar

We’ll turn off phone, enjoy lovers’ lair.

Riverbed Days

Today’s prompt: tortilla, vault, riverbed

Bienvenido* Riverbed

Where we played as children

After munching tortillas made

By hand…neighborhood abuelita.**

Memories, diamonds in heart’s vault

Gilded days, skipping stones…

Laughter, monkey-chatter of carefree

Kids with dreams wide as horizon.

Riverbed’s dry now, all but erased…

Along with childhood’s open-soul face.

My new mechanic

The Lavender Merchant

Today’s prompt: merchant, danger, lavender

Merchant of lavender, marvelous…

He smelled herb-sweet, summery

Of old-fashioned romance, maybe

And rainy day freshened poetry.

He sold me purple bunches tied…

Oil, sachet packets…tufts, a ton…

Heart soaps, and star-shaped candles…

Calm fragrance, thoughts to waft upon.

Oh unforeseen danger, falling in love…

Warm violet mist of embrace at dawn.

He wooed all the ladies with herbal fare

Left them weeping woeful lavender tears.

But wise, I’d purchased sea-kelp shampoo…

Washed him fully forever out of my hair.

Sailboat Slammer’d (3TC)

Today’s prompt: nose, Alabama, sailboat

I do not sail…I adore the water

From shore’s unmoving vantage.

So I bid the group fair voyage as

They boarded gleaming sailboat…and

Settled on the sand, novel in hand.

Gaily their voices, laughter sang loud

Across teal distance…such fun to be

Had—getting sunburned, hoisting

Host’s cocktail…Alabama Slammers.

Glancing up, I watched joyous boat

Slam nose into stone jetty.
