Prompt: write a poem that uses repetition…repeat a word, or phrase…even repeat an image, perhaps slightly changing or enlarging it from stanza to stanza, to alter its meaning.

Yearning for time to open pages

Disappear inside bound papered

Walls, fort of words, escape…book.

Longing for printed lines that renew

Refresh mood, mental getaway.

Yearning burns for story which

Embraces me, a boon companion…

For ink-profiled characters more

Authentic, 3-dimensional, than

Most real people invested in.

Urgency in longing, yearning…

Time lifts broad tapestried wings

Of blinding hue.  Luxury journey

Literary—hands turning dim pages

Shakily—soon will pass from view.

Person ~ Jesus Christ

“I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27, New Living Translation

Place ~

Created mental sanctuary

World

Safe, set apart, where

Music

Birdsong, wind chimes, seashore motif

Window on sky’s ever-changing palette afford heart riches, peace.

Pastime ~

Peace of mind

Falling

Into book’s compelling pages

Endless

Wonderland escape à la Alice’s adventures

Vicarious literary getaways salve stress of real world’s demands.
