Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #4
Roboworks@DeviantArt.com
Wraith, whether ghost or nightmare…a
Ravaged horror; apparition dressed in tattered
Gown, trailing train of…yes…ebon-ash, smoke.
She wore mask of fear, fine etching traced
Across her face formidable…but, for what reason
Did she intimidate me? An atmospheric anomaly.
What dire straits was she escaping from
Or to, that brought her lost or found into my
Sleep, night after murky blue-wafted night…
Waking me, requesting one more review?
Her garment rustled, ruffled as she whirled
(A midnight dreaming dervish?)…how could
Mind rest, though wearied so alert?
Perhaps she was metamorphosis…of child
I once was, might have been… Alas, no
Narcotic’s induced deception, this spectral
Grave shadow my reality…lurking, ever lurking
Whispery-pacing heart’s moonless halls.
