Snake Pit (Sundays 6-Sentence Story)

Prompt:  MEMORY

Memory’s mostly snake pit.

Tormenting vipers of Yesterday…stealthy, fast, fangs pierce nightmares, daytime peace.

Toxic venom swirls through veins, infects Tomorrow’s hopes.

Why, I wonder, does memory save worst of moments, days?

Surely there were events, times, people of blessing, beneficent…

Somehow they get deleted:  mind’s hard drive refurbished, still faulty.

(Nonfatal)

Chalk it up to

Experience

Life, forever the teacher, offers

Chorus On Laundry Night

I tend to do my laundry at odd hours, as tenants must share a single washer and dryer.  So, typically I haul my basket downstairs and across the parking lot at around midnight, or dawn. Tonight I was struck by the frogs’ loud bellowing chorus…they kept me entertained as I went back and forth, enjoying a less than favorite task 🙂

Late-night dark, frogs long and loudly

Announce in lingering amphibian chorus

To all wee-hour creatures assembled

That I, peculiar inhabitant of ‘hood

Can’t manage to modify busy days…not

Sensible about sleep, nutrition needs

Which wisdom would dictate examining.

I barely discern froggy voice declare:

“Too mindful of prompts, challenges…

Alas, poet/blogger’s losing her mind”.

Prismatic Delusion (NaPoWriMo)

https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2019/04/01/rdp-monday-fool/

Once again I’m combining daily prompts to answer NaPoWriMo’s call…except, I’m forgoing the optional challenge of a villanelle poem.  Back in the day, 2011 to be exact, I could whip up any poetry form named…and if you want proof, I’ll comb my files and find a nice sonnet or something🙂

I’m an old poet, just happy to be part of April’s writing madness…so you take what you get, if you visit here.  Have a blessed weekend, everyone—somebody, sleep for me in case I don’t have time

Absolute fool, seduced

Believing…

What was, was not

Love

Story, exquisite prism on windowsill.

No…only delusion; hormone-flooded romantic euphoria…swiftly evaporating vapor.

Not Always

https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2019/04/03/rdp-wednesday-articulate/

Strange thing I’ve

Noticed…

Articulate people have greater

Expectations

Put upon them, burdensome assumptions:

They’re “smarter”, their lives problem-free, less demanding… Not always.
