Gifts for Everyone

FOWC with Fandango — Retro

http://www.napowrimo.net/one-week-down/

Host’s Prompt:  Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem of gifts and joy. What would you give yourself, if you could have anything? What would you give someone else?

It may be “retro” to wave

Peace sign, sing “all we

Need is love”…but if it were

In my power to hand out

Gifts to Everyone, friends

And strangers alike, those

Would be among presents

I’d glad and generously

Bestow… Like glitter, I’d

Sprinkle JOY, erase your

Frown lines… serve each

Heart a chocolate soufflé

Of HOPE.  And the gift I’d

Most desire for myself, as

Well as to share:  eyes and

Ears of understanding, so

That when we’re with other

People we could truly see

Them, hear who they are

Know what they’re about…

Glimpse tears, listen to

The unspoken melodies

They carry closed within.

I’m not asking to be like

Him, but that’s how God

Knows each soul…inside

Out, upside down, sideways.

Idealistic, naive, a romantic…

I might be mistaken, but if we

Understood better, persons

Near and far—perhaps we’d

Love better, more…if we loved

From place of empathic knowing

We’d probably find real peace

Waits in the wings…an open door

Kneeling Woman

Majestic kneeling woman

Weeping

Ardent heart unrestrained, humbly

Prays

Hear petitions, Lord, make haste

Deliver mercy, justice, wounded souls’ aloe…rescue destitute world.
